re-ver-ber-ate is a dance/performance piece created in the Miller Performing Arts Center- Black Box Theater, at Alfred University. The dance included 6 dancers: Katie Baildon, Alanna Gibson, Tiffany Joy Butler, Kim Rau, Claire Pitts, Brittany Caldwell. The materials included: Clear PVC vinyl, zippers, spandex unitard, 30 thousand ft. of blue and green extruded plastic filament, lighting.
re-ver-ber-ate looks at the decline of the gaze and long term focus in modern society as a direct response to the fast integration of media and advanced technology in culture. The extruded plastic represents the unnoticed thing that we pass by until one day tripping in it. It is through these moments of focus and discovery that life begins to noticeably take a new light.
The music for this piece was created by my good friend Sonra R. Perry. It was composed from an original piece that she extended in length for this dance. The original music composition is entitled: The Skipper (Part One). For more on Sonra R. Perry's work you can visit her site at: workbysonraperry.com
